Rules & format

Everything you need to know about how the WitchPicks World Cup 2026 game works.

Joining

You'll get an invite code from the organizer. Head to the sign-up page, enter your email, a password, a display name (this is what appears on the leaderboard), and the invite code. That's it, you're in.

Making picks

Once you're signed in, head to the Picks tab. Each round has its own pick window.

For the Group Stage, you rank teams 1st through 4th in all 12 groups before the first match kicks off on June 11.

For every knockout round, you just pick the winner of each match. Picks unlock as soon as the previous round's bracket is set, and lock at the first kickoff of that round.

You can save and change your picks as many times as you want until that round's lock time. After lock, everyone's picks become visible to everyone else.

Lock times

Each round locks at the kickoff of its first match. Times below are shown in your local timezone.

The 3rd Place match and the Final share the same pick tab on the site since both become available right after the semis end. They lock independently at their own kickoff times.

Scoring

Group Stage

2 points per correctly-placed team. Each group has 4 positions (1st through 4th) across 12 groups, so 48 chances. Maximum 96 points.

Knockouts

Pick the winner of each match. Points double each round, so picking a winner deep in the tournament is worth way more than nailing a Round of 32 upset:

RoundPoints per pickMax for round
Round of 32232
Round of 16432
Quarter-finals832
Semi-finals1632
3rd Place1616
Final3232

Maximum possible: 272 points

Leaderboard

The leaderboard updates roughly every 5 minutes during the tournament. Group standings are live, so your group-stage points will fluctuate as matches play out, and lock in once each group's last game finishes.

Tiebreakers

If two players finish on the same total, they share the position. No additional tiebreakers, no countbacks. Champagne for everyone.

Good luck, and don't overthink it.
